Quin diu que els exàmens són individuals? Qui diu que la probabilitat és sempre teòrica? Els d’ESPA 4 han fet un examen per parelles de probabilitat experimental. Vos deix algunes imatges i l’examen. Els sobres amb les preguntes les triaven ells. #probabilitat #matematiques pic.twitter.com/p7nkolknhH

Who says examens must be individual? Who says probability must be theoretic? Students of 10th grade in adult education, answer in pairs probabilistic questions. See exam questions [and answers] (in catalan) and how they work. #probability #log #inclass #classroom #mathematics #adultseducation #secondaryeducation

2019-05-15 La pausa musical a ESPA 4

Monday May 13th, students answered the question: what’s the probability of one person chosen randomly hits the return of sound in Whitney Houston “I will always love you” and Roxette “She’s got the look”. Inspiration from El Hormiguero. You can see the results of times and percentage of interval. We have to count errors. We set error < 5% is hit and otherwise fail (but really it needs more precision)

Aquesta setmana els meus alumnes han investigat una probabilitat “experimental”: la probabilitat d’encertar la represa d’una cançó després d’un silenci. Inspiració antena3.com/programas/el-h…. Més informació canterano.somenxavier.xyz/activitats/la-… #probabilitat #error #mòbils

2019-03-19 VNPS a ESPA 4

Next thursday I will do an activity with Vertical Non-Permanent Surfaces #vnps to solve quadratic equations. I plan to swap windows for correcting equations with another team and put +10 in my additive assessment sheet

2019-03-14 Per a què serveixen les equacions de segon grau?

Un estudiant me demana per què serveixen les equacions de 2n grau? Algú m’ho pot dir? Me podeu dir alguna aplicació pràctica de la vida quotidiana? A mi no se m’ocorr cap.

2019-03-10 How many digits for approximate?

  • keywords: “approximate”, “bad-practicing”, “mastodon”, “twitter”

This week I said to my students “how many digits do you use to approximate non-exact square root?” Almost everyone said 2. Why? They did not know. My opinion it’s because math teachers repeadely told them without any reason… #log #classrroom #badpracticing

Weeks #1 & #2 in ESPA 3 (secondary 9th level equivalent in adults education in Balearic Islands) [4-months courses]: 1) introduction (in catalan), 2) students resolved Coca-Cola Pool by Dan Meyer in groups and redacted reasoning brief. We use additive assessment with weights assigned by students (see this). More information (in catalan) #log #classroom

2019-02-14 Graduation activity by ESPA 4

  • keywords: “activitats”, “extrapolació afí”, “mastodon”
  • links: mastodon

On Friday Feb 2nd, students do Dan Meyer’s Graduation activity. Their reasoning is to count time to pronounce names of 2, 3, 4 and 5 words and to count time between two graduates. Problems encountered: 1) missing people, 2) speakers omit words in names of 3+ words, 3) we have no time for seeing how much time speaker uses to pronounce names of 4 and 5 words [we use affine extrapolation for approximate it]. Final result: 12% of error of approximation #3-act #iteachmath
